Savings from smart charging electric cars and trucks in Europe: A case study for France in 2040 – Technical Report

The aim of the study is to quantify the grid savings enabled by smart charging of electric vehicles by 2040. Recognizing Artelys’ expertise in modeling the impact of electric mobility on distribution grids, RAP and ICCT commissioned our experts to develop an illustrative case study in order to quantify the benefits of an ambitious deployment of smart charging capabilities on the need for grid reinforcement. This work includes both detailed prospective modelling of the electric vehicle fleet and associated electricity demand, as well as modelling and simulation of the electricity distribution network.
