Performance and robustness improvements
Knitro 14.2 delivers substantial performance and robustness improvements for nonconvex problems in comparison with version 14.1, enhancing both efficiency and solution quality:
- Packing problems:
Nonlinear packing instances are solved twice faster on average to equivalent local optimality - Pooling problems:
Frequent in the mining industry, water networks and oil&gas applications, Knitro 14.2 now solves pooling problems 35% faster on our reference pooling benchmark. - Nonconvex quadratic models (QPs/QCQPs):
27 additional instances are solved to local optimality among the non-convex instances of the QPLib 2022.
Among these improvements, enhancements to the initialization phase for nonconvex QCQPs improve initial point quality, particularly when using the multi-start procedure. Furthermore, models with conic constraints now benefit from greater robustness and efficiency, enabled by the specialized conic algorithm.
New Tools for solver settings and information retrieval
- Best Feasible Iterate Retrieval:
Users can now retrieve the best feasible iterate found during optimization with dedicated API functions or via user options. - File-Based Initialization:
A new option allows users to specify a file for initializing optimization algorithms, simplifying setup for complex models. - Enhanced Time Management
The maximum time option now enables users to set a global time limit across single, multi-start, multi-algorithm, tuner, or MIP solves. Additional options offer precise time control over subproblem solves.
